Traditional clocks can come up with two options. It can be analog or digital clock. Traditional clocks have two time counters for each player. Once the game start, the clock will also start running. And if a player makes his move, he is responsible to push the button which will therefore switch the opponent’s clock to run. This process repeats up to the endgame. On the other side, analog clocks do the same job. Only then, instead of button, there is a flag that waves once the time is over. As for digital clocks, there’s a thing that beeps when time is about to end.
In many tournaments, Fischer clock is widely used. This recommended time gadget was named after the former world champion Bobby Fischer. Fischer clock do the same way as analog and digital chess clocks. The only difference is the constant amount of time in Fischer clocks. This come up with additional five to ten seconds after every move was established. The good thing about this clock is that help players in preventing troubles regarding time. Chess clocks also differ in time controls. In timed chess, the time controls is quite slow compare to blitz chess wherein each player is only given five to ten minutes to finish a single chess game.
And what happen if a player fails to make his move on time? Well, in this case, the player who runs out of time will automatically lost the game. In every rule there’s an exception. In blitz chess it the player who has time yet don’t have enough materials to force a checkmate, the game is automatically declared a draw. Apart from two opposing humans, there’s another person present in blitz chess. This person will definitely serve as an eye to cheaters. Once a player makes an illegal, the opponent will automatically declare as the winner in the game. And if you’re opponent forgets to punch the clock’s button, you’re responsible to remind him. Majority of chess tournaments has a person in charge to check the time. This is just to avoid troubles between players.
